BARBELLS FOR BOOBS:  Helen meets Grace
My gym held a B4B event today, had about 12 teams participate.  Got about 3.5 hours of sleep beforehand, and then napped for 2 hours after. Now 12 hours at work :-/
Anyways, smoked the WOD.  Beat my trainer and his partner by 12 seconds, and took the best time of the day!  props to me! haha
Reps can be split up any way you like, but run must be done together, and only one partner can work at a time.  
Helen: 3 rounds
400m run
21 KB swings (53#)
12 pull ups
Grace: 30 clean and jerks (135#)
We ran in the same heat as my trainer, and knew that we had to make A LOT of ground on the runs.  Pull ups and KB swings were a wash since they were gonna get done at 100% speed by both of us.  But my trainer and his partner had about 150 extra pounds of muscle on us to blast through Grace.  
Made me a very happy man today! :)

10 day cleanse complete.  Lost 8 lbs! Day 11…..boiler makers and football!  (yeah, awful looking pistol… boiler makers man… boiler makers)

PR updates:  9/29/12 - CF Total: A month later

  • Strict Press:  155#  (shoulder has been hurt all month, surprised this # didn’t decrease)
  • Back Squat: 285#. 10lb PR (felt like I could’ve hit 295# but didn’t sit back enough)
  • Dead Lift: 415# 10lb PR (could not get 425#to budge)

MY gym is having their grand re-opening today. I will sadly be at work.  If you want to drop by, check out the gym, drink beer, have some food.  Look up Crossfit Mukilteo (near Seattle).  

Also, anyone in the area know who’s throwing Barbells for Boobs?  My gym is hosting one, but I work that weekend and theres a Huskies game I have tickets to.

NPR takes a look at Crossfit kids.  As with Crossfit and any training in general, if you have good trainers and good programming, its amazing for you.  AND if you have shitty trainers, someone could get hurt.  I imagine its better for you and safer than Pop Warner football. just sayin. 

Followed by a nice comments section with a ton of people who haven’t tried crossfit weighing in.  Also, some really good “put-this-in-your-pipe-and-smoke-it” comments.

WOD 9/17/12- Mr. Joshua (hero WOD and trainer’s (Josh’s) b-day WOD.

5 rounds

  • run 400m
  • 30 GHD sit ups
  • 15 deadlifts @ 250#

time: 28:10 RX.  I ACTUALLY BEAT MY TRAINER!  Haha, that pussy (jp, he’s a beast) but it was his bday yesterday, I suspect he was hung over (he said he hit his foot chasing a giant cat in an alley).  He puked twice.  I almost puked several times.

Today wasn’t a good day to start Advocare’s 24 day challenge… You’re not supposed to workout on day 1, especially run your body into the ground.  oh well, happy I did.  Oh yeah, I did Death by air squats and GHD situps on THURSDAY… my abs were still sore from that.  (got thru rnd 14 I think).  

Why do this 24 day challenge?  i dunno, why not.  cleanse my beer torn body, plus I work the fuck out of the next 2 weeks. so, if I’m not gonna be out having fun, I might as well be hungry and miserable too… wtf?
